Week Beginning 20th March 2017

Dear Parents/Carers,

Next week all children at Old Hall will be participating in a variety of fun activities to celebrate Autism Awareness week. The aim of the week is to bring the children together through fun and enjoyable activities, to recognise and celebrate ‘difference’ and to raise money for the National Autistic Society, Comic Relief and Old Hall School Fund.

The activities for next week include the following :

Monday 20th March – Tiger class will be selling ice cream with strawberry or chocolate sauce and a variety of toppings.

Tuesday 21st March – Parrots class, Butterfly class and Panda class will be making and selling sensory ‘twiddlers’.

Wednesday 22nd March – Seal class and Penguin class will be making and selling gingerbread boys and girls and shortbread biscuits.

Thursday 23rd March – Kangaroo class and Dolphin class will be making and selling cakes.

During the afternoon all children will come together to listen to the choir and join in with singing to celebrate how  ‘It’s Good to be Me’.

The children will then be invited to come together for a cinema showing of ‘The Stick Man’ and enjoy popcorn and snacks.

Friday 24th March – ‘Dress to impress’ The children are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite superhero or TV/book character or for those who don’t like to dress up, their school uniform or own clothing will be just fine.

Early years and Owl class will be offering face painting to all children.

During the afternoon all children will participate in games and dancing at our Autism Awareness/Comic Relief party.

Other activities throughout the week will include a sensory trail, comic relief sensory activities and decorating individual jigsaw pieces to create a huge Autism Awareness puzzle display (Look out for this in our school newsletter).

We would be very grateful if parents/carers/families could support us during Autism Awareness week by donating £1 for your child to purchase goods being sold throughout the week and if possible to donate a £1 on Friday to help raise funds for Comic relief, The National Autistic Society and Old Hall school fund. Any other donations will be very much appreciated.

Please complete the slip below to give permission for your child to have their face painted on Friday 24th March 2017 and return to their class teacher by Thursday 23rd March 2017

I am sure all children will have a fantastic week and I would like to thank you for your continued support.

Many Thanks

Tracy Tandy

ASD Lead
